This is a blog about disasters and the role of higher education in risk reduction and resilience. In these posts, we – from the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) Department of Urban and Regional Planning (DURP) – share our experiences, research, and growing partnerships on disasters in the US and Indonesia. Both Hawaii and Indonesia have unique similarities, challenges, and vulnerabilities to disaster, which we explore across geographies, sectors, and topics.
The experiences in this blog are part of a project funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA). The Project is called “Building Resilience Through Training.”
